This workshop is for artists at any stage in their career who are interested in expanding their practice to encompass more community-minded work through public art. This could include murals, sculptures, film, performances and more. In this workshop we will review the different models for artists working with their communities and also introduce key practices artists must consider to work with communities responsibly. We will also review fundamentals for creating and executing successful projects that are beneficial to both you and your community. Finally, artists will have an opportunity to begin thinking of what some community art projects could look like and develop them with the guidance of the workshop facilitators.
