Clinton to Host 8th Annual Overdose & Addiction Awareness Vigil – Honoring Lives, Inspiring Hope
Clinton, IA — On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 4:00–7:30 PM, community members and professionals will gather at the Riverview Bandshell (251 Ball Park Drive, across from Riverview Pool) for the 8th Annual Overdose & Addiction Awareness Vigil. This powerful evening will bring together education, remembrance, and hope—honoring those lost to overdose while supporting those struggling or living in recovery.
The need for awareness is urgent. In 2024, an estimated 48.4 million Americans aged 12 or older—nearly 17% of the population—met criteria for a substance use disorder. Since the late 1990s, over one million Americans have died from overdoses. In 2024 alone, 80,391 lives were lost. Yet hope remains strong: in 2024, more than 23.5 million people in the U.S. identified as in recovery, a testament that healing is not only possible—it’s common.
This year’s theme, “No Wrong Way, Multiple Pathways,” emphasizes that recovery looks different for everyone. Every step forward matters, and no one should feel judged for the journey they take.
