The annual Clinton Community College High School Fine Arts Day was held April 10 with 63 art entries from three area high schools being exhibited.  The event includes exhibiting student artwork in addition to awards presented for first and second place in four categories.  The judges were all artists who have exhibited in the CCC Art Gallery, and all are members of either the Clinton or the CCC community.  Categories include painting, drawing, graphic arts and mixed media.  Clinton Community College is one of the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges.

Also showcased during the event was the talented CCC Culinary Arts academy students who created unique deserts enjoyed during the reception. The Clinton Community College Paul B. Sharar Foundation provided the 3-credit art class for the 1st place finishers and $50 Hobby Lobby gift cards for the 2nd place recipients.

CCC President Brian Kelly commented on the high quality of submissions, “The creative vision of the student participants was inspired, focused, and well executed. Our high school partners should be proud of the artist they are helping to develop.”

CCC Librarian Courtney Pritchard is the chairperson of the Fine Arts Committee which organized the event.  She stated, “Thank you to our area high students and their teachers who encouraged them to participate. We look forward to seeing what is created each year. This year’s artwork was filled with talent and creativity.”
