Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) is offering a CNC Entry-Level Technician course this fall to help meet growing demand for skilled workers in the region’s machining and manufacturing industries.
The course, which runs from Aug. 26 to Nov. 20 at the Blong Technology Center, provides 204 hours of hands-on training in core areas such as shop math, blueprint reading, precision measurement, and CNC mill and lathe operation. Classes will be held Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
Designed for individuals seeking entry into the manufacturing field, the training also supports local employers by reducing the need for on-the-job instruction. The course offers an opportunity for businesses to send new hires or current employees who show potential for advancement into CNC roles.
“Manufacturers in our region continue to face challenges in finding qualified entry-level CNC technicians,” said Michal-Marie Tillotson, EICC Advanced Manufacturing Program Manager. “This course helps bridge that gap by preparing individuals with the foundational skills needed to step into those positions.”
Tuition for the course is $3,125. The program is open to the public, and employers are encouraged to contact EICC to discuss enrollment options for their staff.
