Kara Marr began her banking career as a teller at the age of 18.
She’s worked in several facets of the banking industry since that time, and now, she has been promoted to Vice President at First Central State Bank.
First Central State Bank CEO Brigham Tubbs said Marr’s versatility and attention to customer service align with First Central’s continued mission.
“Kara has been a valuable team member for several years and we couldn’t be happier with how she not only leads our team members as a branch manager, but integrates with First Central’s vision for community banking,” Tubbs said.
Marr started in the banking profession in 1988 at the former Gateway State Bank. She returned to the Ohnward Bancshares family in 2004, when she rejoined the staff at what is now First Central State Bank.
During her time away from First Central, she worked for multiple banks and held various jobs, such as head teller, bookkeeper, customer service supervisor and loan processor.
“It’s been quite a journey in banking,” said Marr, who also serves as the Lincoln Way branch manager. “I enjoy coming to work every day and working with such a great team. Most of all, though, I’m a people person, so I love interacting with everyone who comes through our door.”
Gateway Area Market Leader and Senior Vice President Paul Mulholland said Marr has played an integral role in shaping the team’s vision.
“What’s great about Kara is her ability to relate with not only our team, but community members,” Mulholland said. “She’s worked pretty much every postion in banking, so she knows what’s expected with those roles. She also has lived in the community for the majority of her life, so she understands what local residents are experiencing.”
Marr graduated from Clinton High School and received an Associate of Arts degree from Clinton Community College.
